Introduction
The Ludlum Model 215 is a unique dual-purpose alpha
radiation contamination detection system which can be used as both a stationary
detector and mobile frisker. When being used alongside a glove box, the user
can utilize this innovative device as a stationary hand frisker then simply
remove it from the charging stand for use as they would any other mobile
alpha radiation frisker.
This convenient, integrated detector design requires
no batteries, P-10 counting gas or cables giving the user complete freedom
in performing their frisking duties. The large area, air proportional
radiation detector has built-in electronics, display and capacitors that allow it to
be operated up to 30 minutes before needing to be recharged. Fully
discharged, the detector is ready for stationary operation within 5 minutes
of being placed into the charger stand and ready for mobile frisking within
20 minutes. The charging stand interfaces to a PC to facilitate setting
parameters and running high voltage plateaus via an optional application
program.

Options
Model 215-20 Charging/Calibration Stand
- Part Number: 48-3567 interfaces with a personal computer and uses infrared
communications to set parameters and run automatic plateau routines. The
stand’s input power is +15V(+12V minimum to +20V maximum) at 100mA maximum.
Four charging/calibration stands can be interconnected to run from a single
0.5A wall mount power supply.

Model 215 Calibration Software
- Part Number: 1370-080 available to assist in changing parameters and
determining operational settings.
 The
Model 215 Calibration Software package allows the user to calibrate a Model
215 instrument and provides user-friendly access to the Model 215 features,
including a general status check, as well as the ability to view and change
calibration parameters, run a plateau, and calculate the efficiency of a
Model 215 instrument.
The software interfaces with the instrument using an
RS232 serial connection. Instrument status parameters are updated every two
seconds, allowing for continuous monitoring of an instrument, as well as the
connection between the instrument and the charging stand. The auto-update
feature can be started and stopped at the discretion of the user. The
software also contains the Model 215 Debugger program, which can be accessed
through the Debug menu on the main screen.
