The Ludlum
Model 2241-2RK Radiation Emergency Response Kit packages all the basic radiation
measurement tools you are likely to need to handle a radiological emergency into
a convenient carrying case to facilitate a quick response when required. The kit
includes Ludlum's digital, auto-ranging, and versatile
Model 2241-2 Ratemeter/Scaler
that can measure radiation exposure, contamination and samples. Responders can
either plug in either the
Model 44-9 alpha beta gamma radiation G-M pancake probe for contamination measurements and measuring samples or the
Model 44-2
high sensitivity gamma radiation scintillator for locating the source of the
high readings. A locked toggle switch selects the correct set of operating
parameters for detector presently connected to the instrument to optimize the
measurement. The carrying case supplied with the kit is air and water tight with
cutouts for each device including a
137Cs radioactive check source to verify
proper operation of the equipment. Compare with the

SET MINIMUM DISPLAY: allows lower limit of auto-ranging display to be fixed, for example, display can be set to NOT show values less than 1 μR/hr
RS-232 DATA DUMP MODE: enables or disables dump mode to RS-232 port, when enabled data will be dumped every 2 s
RS-232 DETECTOR SETUP MODE: allows for detector parameters to be input by RS-232 port

RESPONSE:
VARIABLE: Dependent on number of counts present. Typical times are FAST 4 to 25 s, SLOW 4 to 60 s (All times stated from 10% to 90% of final reading).
FIXED: The parameter is adjustable from 10 to 25 resulting in a FAST response from approximately 2 to 50 s. The SLOW response is approximately 10 to 250 s. For MDA-type measurements, the fixed response mode is recommended.
