Introduction
The Ludlum
Model 375-600 is a highly integrated, high sensitivity gamma radiation
measurement system. Unlike other systems where the detectors are separated from
the controller and alarm indicators, this one combines all components into one
convenient package thus making installation a lot simpler and less costly. The
detector employed is a 630 in3 plastic radiation scintillator which is shielded in all
directions except beneath with 1/4" lead. The controller is Ludlum's popular
Model 375 digital controller which is located at one end of the cabinet. A red
strobe is mounted on the top along with a large, industrial strength alarm
acknowledgement pushbutton. The detector is accessible from a removable panel
and the entire system sits on a plate which can be bolted to the floor. See
Model 375
for additional detail.

LINEARITY: Reading within ± 10% of true value with detector connected
RESPONSE: Typically 3 seconds from 10% - 90% of final reading
STATUS: (Green Light) instrument functioning properly
HIGH ALARM: Indicated by red 5 inch diameter xenon strobe, red HIGH ALARM
light, and fast beep (4 per second) audible tone (can be set at any
point from 0.0 - 9999)
LOW ALARM: Indicated by yellow LOW ALARM light and slow beep (1 per
second) audible tone (can be set at any point from 0.0 - 9999)
NOTE:
Audible alert and alarm indicators can be configured as a single beep if
desired
DETECTOR FAIL: (red light and audible tone; greater than 68 dB at 2 feet)
indicates detector overload, no count from detector, or instrument failure
LOW BAT: (yellow) indicates less than 2 hours of battery power
remaining
DEAD TIME: Adjustable to compensate for dead time of detector and
electronics (can be read on display)
OVERLOAD: Senses detector saturation (indicated by display reading "-OL-")
OVERRANGE: Indicates radiation field being measured has exceeded counting
range of instrument (indicated by display reading "----"
DATA OUTPUT: 9 pin connector providing 5 decade logarithmic output,
RS-232 output, signal ground connection, FAIL and ALARM signals (current
sink), and direct connection to battery and ground, relay outputs available
CALIBRATION CONTROLS: Accessible from front of instrument (protective
cover provided)
